Honor | Respect | Loyalty

The birth of the North Port Honor Guard began in late 2007 when an interest took place to establish a deeper tradition within the department. The purpose of the Honor Guard is to represent fellow members of the department and the community by portraying a positive image, performing as a well-trained team at events and attending formal occasions as requested. The Honor Guard is a group of individuals specifically trained to perform the duties of the Color Guard, as well as other ceremonial functions.

As heart wrenching and sad as it may be, perhaps the most important duty of the Honor Guard is to render the final honors for a fallen brother or sister.

Once a year, the Honor Guard attends the Florida Fallen Firefighter Memorial, held at the Florida State Fire College, to do just that.  They are joined by 20+ Fire Department Honor Guards from all over the state to show our respect for those that gave all, and to provide the families with emotional support.
